Physical Science UNITS
UNIT 1Nature of science
This unit gives the basic background of what science is, why it is important, and the basics of how it is organized. Unit 5Work and Power
Students will learn the fundamental principles relating the concepts of energy and power by adding to physics concepts already studied and everyday experiences. Unit 9Atomic Structure
Students will use kinetic theory to explain the behavior of solids ,liquids and gases. Students will also learn about the periodic table and why it is important to the world around us . |
UNIT 2Data Analysis The point of this unit is to gets students to build labs skills learn how to interpret and use data. Unit 6Energy , Work and Machines
Students will explore the concepts of energy, beginning with a basic understanding of all forms but soon focusing on the concept of mechanical energy.Final project - Rube Goldberg Machine |
Unit 3Motion
In this unit students will learn about speed, velocity, and acceleration. It will be the first unit of content for physics. Unit 7Electricity and Magnetism
Students will carry out investigations to become familiar with the pushes and pulls of magnets and static electricity. |
Unit 4Newton’s Law
Students will learn the basics of Newton’s three laws of motion and be able to apply this knowledge to situations from their daily life . Unit 8Properties of Matter Students will look at the many was matter is classified and study solids, liquids and gasses |
